What Is The Royalty Legacy Challenge?

In this challenge, the aim of the game is to get through 10 generations of The Royal Families and create a powerful empire.

Setting Up

The first step in beginning this challenge is deciding what kind of ruler you are going to be. To do this, you will need to pick a family from the following (or, if you desire, you can create a whole new family.) Each family has different staring scores, so choose wisely!

Genus Family

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

The Genus Family are known for their kindness and compassion. Throughout the centuries they have been known to give generously to those in need and help as many of the lower class as they can, feeding the hungry and clothing those who cannot clothe themselves. The family is loved by the people and has seldom had the need for the protection of the Royal Guard when visiting even the poorest and most destitute areas.

Aurum Family

There are people who have money and people who are rich. We, my friend, are both.

The Aurum Family is the wealthiest family in the Kingdom. Their desire for a comfortable and lavish life means they are excellent at making (and spending) money. The Aurums have kept their position of power by paying off their enemies and buying the affections of the people. Although they have been known to give to those with less than themselves, they would much rather spend money on things of greater value, surrounding themselves in the finest clothes and jewellery money can buy.

Adding in Extras

Of course, every Royal Family needs a team of staff members at their beck and call. It is up to you whether you would like to hire these staff from an outside company (hiring a maid, gardener, butler, and nanny via the phone) or if you would like to employ your own staff under the crown (create your own sims and move them into your castle.) If you decide you would like to create your own staff members then please see below.

Maid Traits: Neat, Perfectionist, Any.
Gardener Traits: Loves Outdoors, Perfectionist, Any.
Cook Traits: Foodie, Any, Any.
Governess Traits: Family-Orientated, Cheerful, Any.
Butler Traits: Neat, Good, Any.

*Please note, you should not have any more than 5 in-house staff members 'employed' at any one time, unless you have a mod that allows you to have more than 8 sims in a household.

The Castle

The Royal Palace is the most important place in your kingdom, so it is only fitting that it contains everything your Royal Family will need to fulfil their duties as reigning monarchs. Your castle should include all of the following:

  • Master Bedroom (for your King & Queen)

  • Bedrooms for all of your children (one each, they are Royals, after all!)

  • Ensuite bathrooms for all family bedrooms

  • 2+ Guest Bedrooms (for visiting Nobels)

  • Kitchen

  • Dining Room

  • Study

  • Nursery - Cribs for your children, toddler beds for your toddlers. (They do not need a room each until they age up into children)

  • Playroom - Toys for the children, desks for studying. (Can be joint with the Nursery)

Optional additions:

  • Servant's Quarters (can be a dormitory or separate rooms)

  • Ballroom

  • Banquet Hall

  • Palace Chapel

  • Library

  • Drawing Room

  • Royal Gardens

The Rest of the World

Unfortunately, you will not be able to create any more families, to begin with. More families can be unlocked by completing certain milestones, gaining enough reputation or through random events. Once you have unlocked the ability to create a family, please see the relevant spoiler below.

Peasants

Peasants are the poorest of the poor. Often homeless, these people are always hungry, always cold, and always in need of money. Due to their uneducated backgrounds, peasants often find it hard to get a job to make money so sometimes they turn to darker sources...

Careers: Criminal, Military
Marriage: Peasants, Working Class
Looks: Dark hair, dark eyes. Ragged clothing & no shoes. Only wear brown. No jewelry.

Working Class

The Working Class makes up the majority of the Kingdom. Working in menial jobs, they earn barely enough to live. These people live in small, cramped houses, often with up to 4 families sharing one house. Children are educated from the ages of 4 to 7 (if they're lucky) when they are then expected to get a job to start providing for the family.

Careers: Gardener, Entertainer, Military, Painter, Writer, Culinary, Athlete
Marriage: Peasants, Working Class
Looks: Dark hair, dark eyes. Often very dirty. Don't wear bright colors or jewelry.

Middle Class

The Middle Class are those who have made it far in their careers, earning them enough money to live a comfortable life. Their children are often educated until they reach the age of 11, then joining their fathers to learn the family business and eventually take over. The Middle Class often marry for money and titles, marrying Nobels to gain their titles in return for money. They may sometimes be knighted for their achievements but their titles are not passed on to their children.

Careers: Detective, Doctor, Scientist, Astronaut, Athlete, Military, Secret Agent, Business, Writer
Marriage: Nobels, Middle Class
Looks: Dark hair, brown or blue eyes. Nice clothes in light greens, greys, and whites. One or two rings.

Nobel

Nobels are the Dukes, Barons and Counts of the Kingdom. They own the majority of the land and often have their own small armies. They are loyal to the Royal Family and often compete to win the affection and attention of those who rank above them. Their love for money means that they sometimes marry the children of rich middle classmen. Their children are highly educated, from the ages of 4 to 18 and often attend universities to study at a higher level. Their titles are always passed on to their children.

Careers: Actor, Critic, Politician, Style Influencer, Military
Marriage: Nobels, Middle Class, Royals

Foreign Royals

Foreign Royals often visit from neighboring Kingdoms in order to discuss business and trade, and sometimes in order to meet and court a potential partner. They stay in the Royal Palace's guest rooms and attend balls and banquets thrown in their honor.

Careers: N/A
Marriage: Nobels, Royals
Looks: Light hair, blue eyes. Fine clothing with lots of layers. Bright colors (not the same colors as the Royal Family) Often wear fine jewelry
